The protection system, for preventing theft or loss, uses a transmitter attached to, or contained within; a valuable item and a receiver worn by the owner. The max. transmission range between the transmitter and receiver is 2m, with an acoustic alarm signal triggered automatically by the receiver, when the transmitter is out of range. The max. transmission range may by selected individually dependent on the item to be protected, the same receiver being used to monitor a number of different valuables, each with a respective transmitter.
