A method of testing the active tools of bending machines, involves mounting the tool (100) horizontally and simultaneously measuring its height and inclination with two sensors (15,16). The measurement values are stored, evaluated and/or displayed. The tool can be fixed in the measurment position by an applied magnetic field. It can be rapidly released by reversing the field. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables substantially automated measurement of shape and dimensions of bending rams.
