PURPOSE:To reduce the transmission quantity of message information, to enhance a line efficiency and to always and surely recognize the sent message information accurately by converting abbreviation message information into regular message information according to message conversion information stored in a message conversion memory and displaying the converted information. CONSTITUTION:The receiver is provided with a message conversion memory 20 storing in advance message conversion information to convert abbreviation message information into regular message information corresponding to the information and a message conversion means 44. When the message information included in the received selective calling signal is abbreviation message information, a message conversion means 44 converts the abbreviation message information into regular message information according to the message conversion information stored in the message conversion memory 20 and the converted message information is displayed. Thus, the transmission quantity of the message information is reduced, the line efficiency is enhanced and the sent message information is always and surely recognized accurately.
