发明名称 PROJECTION TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the color irregularity of a projection image and easily adjust a color reproduction range by providing 1/2-wavelength plates which convert the azimuth of the polarizing direction wherein projection light from a color separating optical means is received. CONSTITUTION:Respective color lights blue, green, and red separated by the color separating optical means 8 are made incident on field lenses 9B, 9G, and 9R, projection lights from which are made incident on the 1/2-wavelength plates 10 - 12. The 1/2-wavelength plates 10 - 12 are arranged so as to control the spectral distribution of linear polarized color lights that a liquid crystal panel utilizes and the directions of the characteristic polarized lights of two wavelength plates are regarded as neutral axes. The lights projected from the 1/2-wavelength plates 10 - 12 are made incident on three transmission type liquid crystal panels 16B, 16G, and 16R arranged on the same plane. Consequently, the color inequality of the projection image due to the incidence angle dependency of spectral transmissivity characteristics of dichroic mirrors 5 - 7 and the film thickness irregularity is reducible and the lightness and chromaticity of the projection image are adjustable.
