The invention relates to an arrangement for improved transfer of heat to an evaporator, in particular to an evaporator in frost-free freezers and refrigerators. An evaporator 1 is constructed from a pipe, preferably made of aluminium, in the form of one or more extended coils 14 positioned adjacent to one another, in which a refrigerant flows, suitably Freon or the like, to which pipe 9 a relatively thick aluminium foil is fixed, which is slit open and has been shaped into close-lying eyes 10 which form loops 11. The helical pipe 9 forms, together with the loops 11, partly air-permeable walls which function as heat conductors. Positioned in each of the loops 11 is an air-directing device 7 which is preferably designed as a pipe with a drop-shaped cross section which, with its rounded long side 12 and its pointed long side 13, is arranged close up to the inside of the respective coil 14.
