PURPOSE:To recognize a target object in a short period and accurately by adjusting the brightness of a picture before a recognition process. CONSTITUTION:Before the recognition of the target object by the binarizing process of an input picture in a picture processing means 6, a controller 8 applies a respective picture process to the input picture corresponding to a body color. That is, the target value ax of an average brightness corresponding to a binarizing level as a reference is set, and when the average brightness of the input picture actually obtained largely deviates from the target value ax the controller 8 controls so as to make the average brightness close to the target value ax. In the neutral tint picture, the target value ax is set to select a level capable of accurately recognizing a target object 3 from a background 1 if executing the binarizing processing using the average brightness in the input picture as it is. Thus, it is possible to recognize the target object by the picture process rapidly and stabilizingly. |
