PURPOSE:To repair the fault of the device only by selecting and operating an actuator means by discriminating whether or not there is the fault when state data are measured and inputted, and reasoning the cause of the fault. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal/symbol conversion part 11 converts signals from sensors 1a - 1c into symbols based reference value data in an object model storage part 14 and a fault diagnostic part 12 evaluates the symbols to discriminate whether or not there is the fault and specify its symptoms. At this time, fault diagnostic knowledge in the storage part 14 is utilized. In case of the fault, the diagnostic part 13 retrieves parameters which cause the fault according to qualitative data in the storage part 14 and a fault simulation part 13 simulates the fault state. Further, the diagnostic part 12 judges the adequacy of the retrieved parameter. The above processes are performed for the plural retrieved parameters. Then the fault symptoms and fault cause are determined according to the results. |
