PURPOSE:To attain self-diagnosing by updating prescribed data in a storage means based upon status data applied from a sensor means at a normal operation time, and at the time of generating abnormality, inferring the cause of a failure based upon qualitative data and failure diagnostic knowledge stored in a storage means. CONSTITUTION:When discriminated that an image forming device is normal, prescribed data, e.g. reference value data, out of featured data stored in the storage means 14 are updated based upon applied status data. When a failure occurs, the failure status of the image forming device is diagnosed based upon the qualitative data and failure diagnostic knowledge stored in the storage means 14 and which element out of the constitutional elements of the image forming device is abnormal is inferred and displayed. While referring to the display, a service man or the like operates an operation instructing means and drives one of actuator means 6a to 6c necessary for the repair of the failure by a driving means. Thus, the self-diagnosing and the self-repairing can be executed. |
