A procedure for preparing a pharmaceutical formulation which contains 3'-azido-3'-deoxythymidine or one of the pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof, which procedure comprises the stages of: (A) preparing 3'-azido- 3'-deoxythymidine or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, and (B) bringing the product of stage (A) into association with an excipient which is pharmaceutically acceptable for it.
