PURPOSE:To accurately reason and output the cause of a fault by deciding abnormality and reasoning the cause of the fault according to stored fault diagnostic knowledge in response to the input of state data indicating the function state of the device. CONSTITUTION:In response to the data from sensors 1a - 1c which shows the function state of the device, a fault diagnostic part 12 decides whether the device is normal or abnormal according to the fault diagnostic knowledge in an object model storage part 14 and also reasons the cause of the fault according to fault diagnostic data in the storage part 14. Consequently, the self- diagnostic system which can accurately decide the cause of the fault is obtained.
