THERMAL MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To record magnetic data and visible data on the same surface and to obtain higher contrast sharp visible data without increasing the thickness of a metal membrane layer by forming a thermal color forming layer based on a thermal color forming material forming a color by heat energy and a polymer binder and the metal membrane layer on a magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal magnetic recording medium 1 is formed by providing a magnetic recording layer 3 on a substrate 2 and further successively providing at least a thermal color forming layer 4 and a metal membrane layer 5 thereon. A protective layer 6 for protecting the metal membrane layer 5 may be further provided thereon. The thermal color forming layer 4 is constituted based on a polymer adhesive and a thermal color forming material and formed by applying a dispersion prepared by dissolving the polymer adhesive in a coating solution wherein the thermal color forming material is dispersed in water or a proper solvent to the recording layer 3 and drying the same. By this constitution, since the metal membrane layer is melted by carrying out thermal printing using a heating medium such as a thermal head and the lower thermal color forming layer forms a color, high contrast printing can be obtained even by low energy.
