PURPOSE:To attain self-repair by selecting an actuator means to be driven based upon qualitative data and failure diagnostic knowledge stored in a storage means, repairing a failure and then updating prescribed data based upon status data applied from one of plural sensor means. CONSTITUTION:An image forming device is set up to a self-diagnosis mode by a self-diagnosis mode setting means, and when a failure occurs, an actuator means to be driven in order to repair the failure is inferred and selected out of plural actuator means 6a to 6c based upon the qualitative data and the failure diagnostic knowledge stored in the storage means 14. After completing said repairing operation, prescribed data, i.e. reference value data, among feature data stored in the means 14 are updated based upon the status data of the repaired device which are applied from one of the sensor means 1a to 1c, so that the reference data are updated to data always corresponding to the current status of the device. Thus, the self-repair can be executed. |
