SELF-DIAGNOSTIC AND SELF-REPAIRING SYSTEM FOR IMAGE FORMATION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To facilitate repair by comparing state data with feature data and deciding whether or not there is a fault, and reasoning an actuator means for repair if there is the fault. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal/symbol conversion part 11 converts signals from sensors 1a - 1c into symbols according to reference value data set in an object model storage part 14. Then a fault diagnostic part 12 evaluates the symbols by using fault diagnostic knowledge in the object model storage part 14 and retrieves a parameter which cause the fault according to qualitative data in the storage part 14 when it is decided that there is the fault; and a fault simulation part 13 simulates the fault state and the diagnostic part 12 compares the simulation result with the parameter value to determine the fault symptom and fault cause of the object machine. Then a repair planning part 15 reasons a repairing method to determine a repair plan and then develops control instructions.
