PURPOSE:To improve heat sealability, hot tack, heat resistance, and extrusion coating processability by compounding a crosslinked ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer with a low-density PE. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and an alpha-olefin (e.g. hexene-1) are copolymerized in the presence of a Ziegler catalyst and crosslinked with an org. peroxide [e.g. alpha,alpha'-bis(tert. butylperoxy-m-isopropyl)benzene] to give a crosslinked copolymer having a density of 0.900-0.940g/cm<3> and a melt flow rate of 1-30g/10min. Separately, ethylene is polymerized in the presence of a free radical catalyst to give a low-density PE having a density of 0.910-0.930g/cm<3> and a melt flow rate of 1-30g/10min. The title compsn. is prepd. by compounding 65-95wt.% the crosslinked copolymer and 5-35wt.% the PE. |
