<p>Unsubstituted or substituted 5-iodo-6-amino-1,2-benzopyrones and their analogs are potent, selective and non-toxic inhibitors and suppressants of cancer growth and viral infections in a mammalian host. The compounds are particularly useful for treatment and suppression of tumors and viruses associated with AIDS, herpetic episodes and cytomegaloviral infections.</p> |
