A rotary cutter for cutting out strips, particularly sheet metal strips, composed of shafts with bearings on which replaceable rotary cutters are mounted. The bearing mounts settled on pillars are equipped with a mechanism for upper shaft adjusting and clearance eliminating. The device is distinctive in that its fixed mounts (6) and slidable mounts (10) are equipped with stretching springs (17) guided by mandrels (16). The springs are hooked in pass-through openings (16) and stepped openings (22), with the stepped openings of the fixed mount (6) having bearing surfaces (23) and the pass-through openings (15) of the slidable mount (10) being partly threaded (19). Screwed into the threaded part of the opening is a bolt-shaped part (18) of the mandrel (16).<IMAGE>
