The mfr. of an identity, credit etc card involves cutting a signature strip from a large sheet of paper, using a sublimation cutting technique, aided by a controlled laser beam operating in sections along a defined cutting line, corresp. to the signature strip edges. The strip (11) is entirely removed from the paper sheet, attached to the plastics card body (12), and fixed in position. The strip edges are cut in a defined relationship to a pattern printed on the paper sheet. ADVANTAGE - Low-cost mfr. with increased counterfeit protection.
