<p>The present invention relates to a method for calculating an impulse response in a synchronous pulse amplitude modulated transmission system. A transmitter uses a periodic signal and stops transmitting after a whole number of periods. The transients which occur on switching the periodic signal on and off are utilized in order to calculate the impulse response by means of a filter. The transients which occur in conjunction with sign reversals of the periodic signal can also be used for calculating the impulse response.</p> |
