HIGH INTENSITY INFRARED HEAT TREATING APPARATUS

An apparatus (10) is disclosed for heat treating a product. The apparatus includes a plurality of lamp assemblies (34). Each of the assemblies (34) has an infrared lamp (44) disposed within a quartz conduit (46). The quartz conduit is formed of material which is generally transparent to infrared radiation. A cooling quartz is admitted into the lamp conduit. A frame (12) is provided defining the heat treatment. The frame supports the lamp assemblies (34) with the assemblies opposing the heat treatment area. Reflective refractory materials (70) surrounds the lamps and the heat treatment area.
