The cast heat exchanger, partic. a heating boiler made of cast iron, has between its hot gas side (H) and water side (W) of its wall (1) a flat insulating component (2) made of suitable material, e.g. ceramic, silicate or graphite. This component (2) is in the form of a foil, a plate, a netting or a fibre weave is cast in, and surrounded by cast iron. Cooling of the hot gas to below the dew point by the firstly cool boiler water is prevented by the insulating component (2). For this purpose, the insulating component can have an increasing thickness in the flow direction of the hot gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - With heat exchangers, partic. cast iron heating boilers, to obviate cooling of the hot gas below dew point.
