The device (9) enables a person to wear a breathing mask (1) which comprises two lateral securing arms (4), each arm being hinged at its anterior end to one side of the mask and being provided with a hook (7) at its posterior end. This device (9) is made in the form of a helmet with two lateral cups (10) connected together by straps (11 to 14). Each cup (10) has a notch or hole (15) to which the hook (7) of a securing arm (4) of the breathing mask (1) can be attached. The cups (10) can retain their conventional function as ear defenders. <IMAGE>
