<p>In the present invention, a method and an apparatus for adjusting the threshold for determining the thickness of a sheet material (20) or the number of sheets of a sheet material (20) is disclosed. The apparatus comprises two capacitive sensors (60a and 60b) positioned on opposite sides of the sheet material (20), having their outputs (64a and 64b) connected additively. The output (64a and 64b) of the capacitive sensors (60a and 60b) is then supplied to a comparator (22) to which a known reference voltage (92) is also supplied. An adaptive circuit (100) adaptively changes the reference voltage (92).</p> |
