A method for producing metal casts with self-detachable heads by applying a mould with a hot top representing a cast head and a narrowing core. The method is distinctive in that it applies a hot top (1) with recesses (4) representing a cast head (6) and top risers that increase locally the size of a head (5). The top risers are placed in the edge area of the mould (2). The narrowing core used in the method should preferably represent a multi-notch element (7) as seen in the cross-section of the cast head (6).<IMAGE>
