1. A steelmaking furnace roof suspended on rods to a frame and supported on its sides by support plates. The roof is made from cubicoid tiles (6), their height amounting to at least 400mm constitute thickness of the horizontal section of the roof over a furnace hearth. The roof sections running from the horizontal part of the roof down to furnace front wall (5) and back wall (4) are also made with cubicoid tiles (6), with every tile suspended lower than a previous one. All tiles are suspended individually by means of hangers (7) to a lengthwise, load-bearing beams (9) which are in turn supported by lateral beams (8) held by the rods (2). Additionally, every second up to sixth tile is separated from a following one with an expansion joint (11). Also the support plates (3) are separated from terminal cubicoid tiles (6) with expansion joints (10).<IMAGE>
