PURPOSE:A novel fluid for traction driving, consisting of a hydrocarbon having gem type dimethyl group and cyclohexyl group (which may have a substituted alkyl group), and having a high traction coefficient. CONSTITUTION:A fluid for traction driving, consisting of (A) a hydrocarbon expressed by formula I (one of R1-R4 is 4-8C branched alkyl, and the rest are H or methyl), e.g. expressed by formula II, etc. and/or (B) a hydrocarbon expressed by formula III (one of R5-R10 is 4-8C branched alkyl, and the rest are H or methyl), e.g. a mixture of hydrocarbons expressed by formulas IV with V. tert-Butyl, isobutyl, isopentyl and neopentyl groups, etc. are suitable to the branched alkyl groups in the above-mentioned formulas. |
