N-Trichloromethylsulphenyl benzenesulphanilide (I) of formula Cl3-S-N(Ph)-SO2-Ph (1) is used to reduce nitrosamine content of the rubber vulcanisates. Pref. 0.3-3, (0.5-2)% (all pts.wt.) (I) is used on amt. of rubber. In an example, 100 pts. Therban 1707S (RTM: hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer, acrylonitrile content 33.7 wt.%, deg. of hydrogenation 96.4% on original C=C bond content, Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4) 100 deg. C, 67) was kneaded for 0.5 minute at 50 deg.C then 0.51 pt. S, 1 pt. stearic acid, 2 pts. active ZnO, 1.5 pts. Vulcanox DDA (RTM: styrenated diphenylamine), 2 pts. Vulkanox ZMB2 (RTM: Zn-methylmercapto benzimidazole), 45 pts. Corax N550 (RTM: C black), and 0.75 pt. Vulkalent E (RTM: (I)) were added and whole was kneaded until homogeneous (4.5 minutes). Mixt. was cooled then, on a roller at 100 deg.C, accelerator system comprising 2 pts. Vulkacit Thiuram C (RTM: tetramethylthiuram disulphide) and 0.5 pt. Vulkacit CZ/MG (RTM: benzothiazyl-2-cyclohexyl sulphenamide was included. (0/0)
