1,188,665. Rotary fluid-flow meters. A.O. SMITH CORP. Nov.30, 1967 [Nov.30, 1966], No. 54646/67. Heading F1F. A rotary fluid-flow meter comprises an inner housing 5 containing a rotor assembly 13 supported by ball-bearings 14, 15 upon an immovable shaft 9, the inner race of the bearing 14 being movable axially relative to the shaft so that the position of said assembly relative to the ends of the inner housing can be adjusted and thereby minimize friction. The outer race of the bearing 14 is fixed to the rotor assembly and the inner race is pressed by a spring 24 and sleeve 25 against an abutment member constituted by a collar 27, which is engaged by a transverse pin 30 lodged in an elongate opening 29 within the shaft, said pin being held against the action of the spring by an adjusting screw 31. The spring abuts a cam 10, which is fixed to the shaft and engages with rollers 21 on a pair of radial vanes 20 that are integral with each other and slidably lodged in slots 19 within the assembly aforesaid. The screw 31 is locked by a screw (34), Fig. 2 (not shown), engaging with a steel ball 33. An outer housing 2 has an inlet conduit 3 for the working fluid and an outlet conduit (not shown) at the top thereof. |
