PURPOSE:To obtain the photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity even in the case of ultrahigh processing speed, and freed of problems in dryability, fixability, and color stains due to residual dyes by using a photosensitive layer containing photosensitive silver iodobromide grains having a silver iodide content of <=0.6mol%. CONSTITUTION:Gelatin is used for coating one side of a transparent support in the total amount of 1.7 - 2.5g/m<2>, preferably, 1.9 - 2.3g/m<2>, and the silver iodobromide high in sensitivity is used for the silver halide, and the silver iodide is used in an average amount of <=0.6mol%, especially, 0.01 - 0.4mol% of the silver halide. When an emulsion of monodispersion is used, it is preferred to accelerate addition of a water-soluble silver salt and a water-soluble halide as the silver halide grains grow in the preparation of the monodispersion emulsion. It is more effective to add a silver halide adsorptive substance in an amount of >=0.5mmol per 1mol of silver halide in the chemical sensitization during the emulsion preparation process in order to obtain a superior material.
