The reproduction apparatus comprises a cylinderical recording medium (1) having pitches and leads, on which the image or sound signals are recorded, a rotating means (2-5) for rotating the recording medium (1) at a constant angular velocity, a means (9) for reading the image or sound signal recorded to the recording medium (1) upon rotating of the medium (1), a signal processing means (13) for processing the read image or sound signals to transmit them to an output unit, and a control means (7,8,11) for controlling all the means. The optical pickup (9) performs focusing and tracking processes from a lead-in area (10) to a lead-out area (14) by a servo unit (8) controlled by the microcomputer (7).
