A jump conveyor for separating slices of product such as food products into groups of slices and conveying the groups of slices downstream. The jump conveyor has a generally flat slice receiving surface to receive the slices of product from an upstream slicing machine, the slice receiving surface being formed from the upper surfaces of a plurality of toothed wheels (2) mounted on a plurality of axles (1).
