1. A method for cooling a circulation fan for annealing plant furnaces used in the process of rolled sheet-metal annealing. The method involves forced circulation of a cooling agent. Protective gas used for forming a protection atmosphere over rolled sheet metal is introduced to an air-tight housing, which acts as a cooler, and led further through a longitudinal channel in a main shaft up to suck-in area of a fan rotor where it is directed back to feed the sheet-metal protection atmosphere.2. A circulation fan for annealing plant furnaces equipped with a rotor set on a shaft and a cooler. The fan is distinctive in that it has an air-tight housing (7), which acts as a cooler, through which protective gas flows and in which there is a shaft (1) with a longitudinal channel (2) connected with a cooling chamber (9) through an outlet (16) and with a suck-in space (18) through an inlet (17), the inlet (17) and the outlet (16) being adjacent to the surface of the longitudinal channel (2).<IMAGE>
