The probe includes a main drill (1) fixed at the extremity of a central rod (3). The drill and the rod are wrapped in a sleeve (9). A shaft (17) is provided above the sleeve. Water from a reservoir is supplied to the probe via ducts (13) and ejected through circular holes (15) Initially the entire probe is thrust into the coil and continuously pushed downwards. The lateral pressure exerted on the sleeve is measured. When the probe advance is not longer possible, water is injected from the reservoir and ejected on the main drill which is thus pushed further into the soil.
