A fuel burner includes an electrical igniter [15] which lights a pilot burner [23] which then lights the main burner [24]. Operation of each of these steps is monitored, and if any are improper, the control device reverts to lighting the pilot burner with the main burner valve [27] shut. If the igniter [15] is sensed as incapable of lighting the pilot burner [23], the pilot burner valve [31] is shut, and an error is indicated to the operator. <IMAGE> |
