<p>An image forming apparatus for scanning a light beam modulated in accordance with image information by means of a rotational polygon mirror comprises light beam generating means for generating the light beam, adjusting means for adjusting the light quantity of the light beam generated by said light beam generating means, driving means for driving said rotational polygon mirror in rotation, and detecting means for detecting whether or not the rotation number of said rotational polygon mirror reaches a predetermined rotation number within a predetermined time, wherein said light quantity adjusting means starts the light quantity adjustment, after the start of driving said rotational polygon mirror with said driving means, and before the rotation number of said rotational polygon mirror reaches the predetermined rotation number. <IMAGE></p> |
