In an object, in particular a plate, which contains compressed granules of hard polyurethane foam and binders, the granules have a particle size not greater than 10 mm. The bulk material from which the object is manufactured contains 10 % to 90 % of polyurethane foam particles and is compressed in a first compression stage at a pressure not greater than 20 kp/cm<2> and in a second compression stage at a pressure not greater than 40 kp/cm<2> and a temperature less than 170 DEG C. A plate having a thickness of approximately 8 to 11 mm manufactured by this process has a flexural strength of at least 22 N/mm<2>, a thickness swelling of less than 2 % and a moisture content of less than 3 %. |
