<p>A dual septum polarization rotator (20) is disclosed which includes a square waveguide (22) and a pair of stepped septums (24, 26) disposed in spaced, orthogonal relation to each other within opposite end portions of the square waveguide (22). A first one of the septums (24) extends horizontally between the side walls of the waveguide (22), parallel to the top and bottom walls (28, 30) thereof. The other, second one of the septums (26) extends vertically between the top and bottom walls (28, 30), parallel to the side walls. The first septum (24), in cooperation with waveguide (22), defines first and second input ports, and, the second septum (26), in cooperation with waveguide (22), defines first and second output ports. The spacing (G) between the first and second septums (24, 26) defines a central, open, nonseptum region (54) within the waveguide (22). <IMAGE></p> |
