Two concentric cylinders (1,2) are mounted on a shaft (3) which is driven by a wind turbine (16) through a magnetic coupling (17). An arm (13) between the cylinders carries radial vanes (14,15) which act as rotary pistons in the cylinders. A groove in the arm engages a pin (12) on the rod (11) of a piston in a control cylinder (10). The discharge pressure (9) is admitted into the control cylinder. As the discharge pressure rises, the piston in the control cylinder displaces the vanes to reduce the compression ratio and bring the pressure back to the desired value. The compressor is suitable for a domestic heat pump. |
