A method for preparing a transparent laminated article comprising an ionomer resin layer and a transparent sheet of glass or polycarbonate laminated to at least one surface of the ionomer layer which comprises the steps of A. providing a knurled or embossed surface on at least one side of at least one ionomer film, B. priming a surface of a glass or polycarbonate sheet, C. placing the primed surface of said sheet in contact with a knurled or embossed surface of said ionomer, and then D. applying heat and pressure or vacuum to the ionomer film and glass or polycarbonate sheet(s) to form a laminate. e
