<p>A mass spectrometer comprises an ion sprayer (1) having a first tube (2) and a second tube (3) outside the first tube, wherein a nebulizing gas is emitted from the first tube (2) and a liquid sample is emitted from the space between the first and second tubes (2, 3). A counter electrode (5) for sampling ions has a hole (8) opposite the outlet of the ion sprayer (1). A high voltage is applied between the ion sprayer (9) and the electrode (5) so as to sample the ions from the hole (8).
