PURPOSE:To shorten the copying time by storing a relevant address and the data on the copying side corresponding to the address and copying the data on the copying side to the copied side based on the address of the stored data if no coincidence of data is obtained between the copying and copied sides. CONSTITUTION:When a medium is copied, a control circuit A 103 orders a comparator 109 to compare the contents of a buffer A 107 with those of a buffer B 108. If no coincidence is obtained between both contents, these contents, the addresses, and the sizes are stored in a discordance information storage area 112. When the answers are not coincident with each other, the circuit 103 copies the data stored in the buffer 107 to the corresponding address of a medium 105 of the copied side via an input/output circuit A 196. When all data on a medium 104 of the copying side are processed, the circuit 103 contacts a terminal 200 via a communication circuit A 113 for transfer of the changed data. As a result, only the data that are actually changed is copied and the effective copying operations are attained.
