A curtain arrangement for closing for instance a gate opening comprises a canvas member (1) which is attached at an upper edge (2) and which in an area halfway between the upper edge (2) and a lower edge (3) has a horizontal rolling rod (4), non-rotatably connected to the canvas member in order, upon rotation, to permit winding the canvas member on the rod. To at least one of the ends of the rolling rod (4) is connected a pull rope (5) serving to effect raising and rotation of the rolling rod. To the rolling rod (4) is also connected a second rope (6) axially spaced apart from the pull rope (5) and arranged, upon rotation and raising of the pulling rod, to exert a downwardly directed counterforce on the rolling rod so as to force the canvas member to be wound on the rod in a stretched condition, said counterforce rope being connected to a counterweight or other equivalent means (12) ensuring the resiliency of the counterforce rope in spite of the fact that the counterforce continuously acts on it during the combined rotating and raising movement of the rod. |
