Indirectly cooled electrolytic magnesium extraction cell - with channel sealed air coolant channel

The temp. in the Mg-metal collecting chamber of the extraction cell is controlled by a coolant circuit, which is separated from the electrolyte and the chamber interior by thermal flow barriers. Pref. the air-coolant is passed through a space above the elelctrolyte, heat being extracted through its sheet metal floor. Prevents contact between air and electrolyte and Mg, thereby preventing oxidation losses.
