A hand-saw has a blade (8) and a handle assembly which has a front plate (7) and a back plate (2) on opposing sides of a handle (3). An end portion (15) of the blade (8) fits into a slit (12) in the handle (3) and positional means (6, 10) of the blade (8) and handle (3) then interact to hold the blade (8) in a unique position. This position aligns a hole or holes (9) in the blade (8) with retainer-receiving means (11, 13) of the plates (2, 7) so that a retainer or retainers can be passed from one plate (2) to the other plate (7) and tightened to secure the blade (8) in place. |
