Dirt-repellency of textiles, esp. cotton or cotton/polyester fabrics, but also other cellulosic materials, blends with synthetics and synthetics alone, is improved by adding 1-60 wt.% reaction products of polyalkylene glycols of >=200 mol. wt with cpds. of formula: is CH2=CH-, CH3-CH=CH- or CH2=C(CH3)- to textile impregnating solns, or suspensions contg. hardenable N-contg. N-methylol cpds hardening catalysts and addn cpds of alkylene oxides to alcohols, thioalcohols, amines, carboxylic acids or amides with hydrophobic org. gps and setting at >=100 degrees C. Pref. finishes contain 10-35 wt.% reaction prod of polyethylene glycols of 300-10000 mol wt with diallylidene pen pentaerythritol acetal.
