PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the wave-form of an AC input current through simple circuitry by providing a switching element which turns ON, OFF so that DC supply voltage is made constant and an input current proportional to the input voltage from an AC input power supply is obtained. CONSTITUTION:Upon abrupt decrease of a load 13, load side output voltage Vo increases. Increase of Vo is detected through a control circuit 13 which then shortens ON interval Ton of a switching element. Consequently, Vo drops to maintain the load side voltage Vo at a constant level. When Ton is shortened, energy to be fed from a tank capacitor 6 through an output transformer 9 to the load decreases and thereby the voltage Vo to be applied on the tank capacitor 6 increases. But, since the energy to be stored in an input transformer for injecting energy into the tank capacitor 6, per single Ton, also decreases due to shortening of Ton interval, energy to be fed to the tank capacitor 6 decreases thus stabilizing the Vo. Furthermore, Io also decreases due to reduction of the Ton interval.
