Apparatus for use in brewing single cup quantities of a beverage from freshly ground charges of beverage material. A simplified apparatus is provided wherein the number of structural elements is greatly reduced and the expense of the entire apparatus is substantially less than that encountered with respect to prior apparatus. A series of cams is provided for operating the component parts of the apparatus and a motor for driving the cam shaft is provided. The profiles of the various cams are interrelated to reduce the load on the motor.
