Use of foil which readily dissolves in organic solvents for covering adhesive-or sealing composns. prevents premature adhesion, e.g. during transport, of prefabricated components provided with plastic sealing composn. which could stick to other components. Foil materials include cellulose ethers or esters, polyvinyl ethers or esters, polyvinyl alcohol, highly plasticised polyvinyl chloride, modified alkyd resins, polyisobutylene, and partic. polystyrene esp. extruded polystyrene foam. Foil can be applied as a lacquer composn. and formed in situ. A suitable protective lacquer consists of 20 wt. % polystyrene, 5 wt.% dioctyl phthalate and 75 wt.% MeEtCO.
