PRODUCTION OF METAL CARRIER FOR CATALYST HAVING ELLIPTICAL SECTION

PURPOSE:To bring a flat sheet and a corrugated sheet into regular contact with each other and to obtain a honeycomb core having a uniform cell structure by forming bending lines in the flat sheet at positions corresponding to turning points on the major axis of a designed elliptical section, putting the flat sheet on the corrugated sheet, winding them until the elliptical section is formed and fixing the end of the flat sheet on the periphery of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:Bending lines (a')-(n') are formed in a flat sheet 2 in the transverse direction at positions corresponding to turning points (a)-(n) on the major axis of a designed elliptical section by putting the flat sheet 1 on a jig 4 with a cut groove 5 and pressing the sheet 1 into the groove 5 by means of a pressing plate 6 with a round edge at set intervals such as (a-b) and (b-c). A rigid metal carrier can accurately and simply be produced.
