<p>The resins, for impregnation of paper of fabric carriers, consist of (A) 80 to 99.5% of known melamine formaldehyde condensates, with (B) 0.5 to 20% of an acrylic ester CH2=CR-COX (where R is H or methyl and X is the gp. of a 2-10C alkylene glycol or a hydroxyethyl-lactam or -imide of a hydroxy-carboxylic or -dicarboxylic acid with 4-8 C atoms). (A) is pref. a condens. product of melamine, formaldehyde and epsilon-caprolactam contg. 2.5 to 10% caprolactam. X is pref. the gp. of a 1-4C alkylene glycol. When laminated on to materials such as hardboard and chipboard, surface coatings are produced with better resistance to over-hardening at high rocessing temps.</p> |
