PURPOSE:To apply a lubricating film with uniform quality regardless of the size of the magnetic recording medium on the extreme surface of this medium with uniform quality without unequal coating by providing the monomolecular film of a lubricant having a specific group within the constituting molecule on the above-mentioned surface. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium is immersed into the lubricant soln. having any of a carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, sulfonic acid group, phosphoric acid group, silanol group, amino group, and methyl group, within the constituting molecules and after the lubricant soln. dried, the magnetic recording medium coated with the lubricant is immersed into a lubricant-soluble solvent to form the monomolecular film of the lubricant on the extreme surface of the magnetic recording medium, by which the uniform lubricating film is obtd. without the unequal coating. |
